busy weekend here at Dalesbridge

This weekend Dalesbridge plays host to 17 different universities for a caving meet. 250 campers will decend onto our fields, braving the cold weather and in spite of the threat of snow!!

They won't be the only ones braving the cold at Dalesbridge; the birds are still fattening themselves up for winter at the feeder, a tawny owl has been heard at dusk in the trees by reception, and field mice have been seen scuttling around the the compost heap.

Dalesbridge Birds!

Here at Dalesbridge we have started to provide food for the resident birds again and they seem to appreciate it!!
Our bird feeders have been inundated with robins, great tits, blue tits and chaffinches.

Its great to see all them all fluffed up against the cold and getting their fill! :)

Welcome To The Dalesbridge Blog

Hello All!

This is our first blog for the Dalesbridge Centre at Austwick so let me start by bringing everyone up to speed!

If you don't know who we are, we are an all year campsite, with large well drained fields and stunning views! We have cosy, heated en-suite bunkhouses, and a beautiful Bed & Breakfast that we can also let as a self catering house!

This year has been a busy one for us, with lots of exciting events having been held here, including charity functions for '3 peaks' walkers, the Leeds jazz orchestra playing in our bar and a speleology group party!!

The summer kept us busy with hundreds of people joining us every weekend and everyone having a great time.

Winter is closing in now but Dalesbridge never sleeps!! We still have large groups coming in to celebrate birthdays, annual club meetings, Christmas & new year.

Plans for refurbishment and decoration are underway and we hope to unveil a brand new look come next spring, as well as improving our green credentials! (we are in a beautiful place and we want to keep it that way!!)

Dalesbridge is a great place, not just for holidays and parties, but also for animals and birds. We have tawny owls living in the trees on site and hedgehogs have been seen rooting in the undergrowth. Spring was an abundance of chicks and fledglings, and even the odd 'mad march hare' was seen racing around the campsite!
In this blog we will be keeping you up to date with all the goings on at Dalesbridge, as well as keeping you updated on the abundance of wildlife we have all around us!
Please feel free to add any photos or comments that you may have and keep posted for future blogs!!
